The National Archaeological Museum of Paestum and Velia is one of the most important archaeological museums in Italy.
The archaeological park is not far from beaches and the sea for bathing. Its long (15 km) and wide beach, touched by the Cilento sea is a popular destination in summer. A very extensive pine forest stands between the coastal road and the beach.
Pompeii is 84 km from Paestum and can be reached both by car and by train (Trenitalia)
